Residency Advocates
Began in 2002, when Dr. Joseph Turek graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine. On Match Day, he learned he would be completing his residency at Duke University. With limited time to relocate and unfamiliarity with the area, Dr. Turek needed help finding a trustworthy real estate agent who would prioritize his best interests. His first call was to his father, who had a background in real estate. Recognizing the challenge his son faced, and the lack of support available to medical students in similar situations, Dr. Turek’s father began helping other students in the same position—offering a free, no-obligation referral service to connect them with qualified, reliable real estate agents across the country. As Dr. Turek advanced in his medical career—from medical school to residency, fellowship, and eventually becoming a practicing physician—Residency Advocates grew alongside him, expanding its support to include fellows and physicians at every stage of training and practice. After 16 years of dedicated service, Dr. Turek’s father retired in late 2016, closing the doors of Residency Advocates to spend more time with family. During its initial run, the organization helped countless medical professionals—from Hawaii to North Carolina and everywhere in between—successfully relocate during one of the most critical transitions of their careers. In 2025, Residency Advocates was revived by Dr. Turek’s younger brother, Toby Turek, along with business partners Matt Lounsberry and Brad Graham. Together, they are committed to upholding the same high standards of integrity, service, and trust that defined Residency Advocates for so many years.
